the birds still sing
when I am at a loss
when news is grim
and day begins in every land
of peace and war
and stories that one
can't ignore
but yet cannot take in
the birds still sing
when right is muddled
into wrong
and hate and violence
grow strong
and selfless voices fade
and goodness too
the birds begin each day
anew
with hope
they pray in song
they sing
