We're waking up
we're ready
now
yet
how steady falls the rain
that keeps us damply
rooted in
and pleading bleakly
at the sky
just one small nod
a simple wink
a bit of hope
that you are nigh
have look at us
we're drenched
enough
our newborn shoots are cloaked
in grey
our weather boots and hood
are tired
and won't mind being hung
away
come out
come out
your eminence
our salutations wane
don't leave us tremble
let us wait
nor genuflect
in vain

Oh good morning
hello
how are we
such a chirp and a chatter
a joyous chorale
it is Spring in the altar
and green on the bough
the sky is aflutter with wing
violets and daffodils
freshen their dress
and crocuses sing
the breeze is a lamb
and the sky is a
lark
and we none can remember
the cold and the dark

As mornings go
most things were fine
the sun showed up
pretty much on time
a few cloud squabbles
here and there
before they settled in
a bit of bickery wind
a brooding mist
hung in the wings
and held its breath
to know its fate
a cheery bird
hopped up and down
and urged the day to
Act like Spring
