Last night
I walked beside the moon
A quiet
Reassuring confidant
He hung with me
And traipsed the autumn eve
Listening when I spoke
Nodding knowingly
As though my words were his
One mind we were
He floated through the clouds and
Cleared the trees
To shadow me
A constant company
My mother said
Her moon was cold
Just a couple towns away
The coldest moon she’d ever felt
Or seen
But I
Did not find mine
Aloof at all
